Meet Laura, Matt, Sian our apprentice, Matt’s mum who helps with our events and some of our animals that have become fan favourites for our events (Puzzle the cat, our 6 dogs, Harlow the goat, Peanut the Shetland and our cows)
Laura leads on running our events and experiences and is the face behind our social media and farm shop. She’s also the one that collects the ever growing number of different animals we have here at Lower House Farm.
Matt
Matt is the “proper farmer” – he oversees the day to day running of Lower House Farm and is responsible for ensuring all the animals are fed, watered and happy. He’s also the one who mends and makes everything that we need!
Sian - our apprentice
Sian started out doing some work experience with us in 2024 and has now joined us during her Apprenticeship at Hartpury College. She’s involved in every aspect of the farm, looking after the animals and supporting all the farm projects.
Helen - Matt’s mum
Helen lives up in Yorkshire but travels down when we have our events. She’s the creative one making and designing all the wonderful details you see when you come to our events and at Pumpkin Patch time will be dressed as the Friendly Scarecrow welcoming you when you arrive.
Puzzle & Leicester (THE CATS)
Part time mouse/ rat catchers, but more often found curled up in the straw or in the house hiding from the cold. Puzzle is very popular as she loves welcoming people at our Events.
our 6 dogs
Dizzee, Digger, Guiness, Missie, Chaos and Dip – they are quite a pack! 4 spaniels, a labrador and a collie, they like to alert us if anyone comes onto the yard. Dip is our working sheepdog (in training) and hopefully will help us with moving ewes and lambs this year. The others are still working out their calling in life…
Harlow the goat
If you’ve visited an event or joined us for an experience, you’ll definitely have met Harlow. He’s our very cheeky goat who loves to escape. He loves greeting people and is incredibly greedy when it comes to food!
Peanut the Shetland
Peanut is the star of our Shetland Pony Experience. She’s only 10hh but what she doesn’t have in height she makes up for in sassiness. She’s incredibly fluffy, food oriented and knows exactly when the electric fence has been turned off so she can make her great escape!
Our Cows - The Highlands and Belted Galloway
We have 3 Highlands with two more babies due in June. Alongside the beautiful Highlands are our Belted Galloways, another Scottish breed with their clearly marked oreo markings. They love welcoming people to Lower House Farm for our Meet Our Cows experience.
